Global Signalling and Inter-working Forum 2008 will take place in Cracow in the period 20th -25th of October, co-hosted by Telekomunikacja Polska.

Global Signalling and Inter-working Forum, until the present known as the C7 Planning Meeting (www.c7pm.org), is an international forum of the representatives of the largest telecommunication operators from all over the world. The first meeting in Denmark (1991), commenced periodic annual conferences, which are based on the following assumptions:
- bilateral agreements with particular operators in the domain of SS7 signalization for interconnect (network connection) and for signalization related to international roaming services
- exchange of experience, practices, and discussions about the technical aspects of signalization and the line of development for services such as – NGN (Next Generation Networking), SIGTRAN (SS7 over IP)
- creating signalization platforms as a new direction for signalization servicing of international connections for vocal and mobile telecommunication.
The SS7 Signalization System is a global telecommunication standard defined by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Standardization Sector)
It defines procedures and protocols which are useful in the exchange of information through the signalization network, needed for:
- the collocation, disconnection, tariffication and management of connections
- international roaming (the authentication of a mobile subscriber, sending messages, e.g. SMS)
- new generation intelligent IN networks (televoicing, calling subscriber identification, free of charge connections 0-800 and others)

Global Signalling and Inter-working Forum 2008 is opened to all Carriers (Members & Non Members of C7) to facilitate the exchange of invaluable experiences, business approaches and process solutions among participants.
